Information Technology Services is looking for a creative, highly motivated self-starter to fill our Manager, Information Systems position. We are seeking a professional IT Manager who is interested in working in a project-based environment and welcomes the challenge of improving processes, managing multiple priorities and successfully delivering projects.

Essential:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science OR Information Systems OR Geography OR GIS OR related discipline OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience leading project teams engaged in delivering a wide range of ICT and business improvement projects.
  • Competency in business analysis methodologies and UML; with knowledge and understanding of automated tools for business analysis (such as Enterprise Architect).
  • Experience in business consultancy, technology planning and account/relationship management.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in GIS. Experience managing projects involving spatial data and GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS, Intergraph GeoMedia Professional or suitable equivalent software.
  • Experience delivering presentations to various audiences with the ability to facilitate and lead meetings.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment.
  • Ability to lead change.
     
Desired:
 
  • Experience in ICT project management including knowledge of industry best practices, such as PMBOK®, with knowledge and understanding of automated tools for project management; such as Microsoft Project Professional.
     

Duties:

The Manager, Information Systems, as part of a team of IT Managers, is generally accountable for developing and delivering the Department's Information Communications Technology (ICT) Plan.

The Manager liaises with MIT business area clients, stakeholders and executive management, including Business Transformation and Technology (BTT), to establish priorities, manage risks, and provide advice and recommendations to facilitate planning, management and execution of business and information technology initiatives.  The Manager also leads the GIS practice within the IT Branch.
The Manager identifies the business need, budget, resources, strategic impact and risks and defines how ICT contributes to the department’s strategic objectives and their MIT clients’ business and tactical objectives. 
 
The Manager is responsible for developing the overall project vision, scope and direction to project team leaders, project managers and business analysts, to ensure the successful acquisition, development, implementation and ongoing support of new systems or enhancements and upgrades to existing production information systems within their MIT business area clients.
