Conservation and Water Stewardship is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Spatial Data Infrastructure Administrator and Geographic Information System Manager.

Essential

  • Post secondary education in Geographic Information Systems (GIS),  Geography, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Extensive experience using Esri ArcGIS software and technology and ArcGIS Online.
  • Extensive experience managing large and complex database(s) including database design, maintenance, and administration.
  • Experience in program or project management. 
  • Knowledge of spatial data infrastructure including server architecture, software, workflows and governance.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Able to work independently with a high degree of initiative.

Desired

  • GIS Professional (GISP) certification.

Duties:

As a senior member of GeoManitoba, the incumbent is a GIS/IT professional responsible for the coordination and management of Manitoba's Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and Geographic Information System initiatives identified in Manitoba's GIS's enterprise strategy.  The incumbent is responsible for the direction, administration, and management of Manitoba's enterprise Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and related GIS activities with the provincial Departments, external organization, and stakeholders.  This includes coordinating the development, maintenance and updating of enterprise geodatabases, coordinating the flow, management and publishing of government's spatial data with the SDI. The incumbent is also responsible to analyze and determine corporate GIS business requirements, provide recommendation regarding GIS software and technology solutions including ArcGIS Online (AGO) to departments, GIS professionals and subject matter experts.
