Municipal government is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Planning Support Technician.

Essential:
  • A Diploma or Degree in Resource Management, Geography or Planning with experience working in a planning office.
  • Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its application to the field of planning.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent applications.
  • Experience processing and analyzing documents and applications with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills including the ability to complete assignments thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff.
 
Desired:
  • Experience interpreting registered plans, assessment rolls and legal documents related to land parcels.
  • Experience working with ArcGIS Desktop software suite.

 

Duties:

This is a specialized position that supports the delivery of the Branch’s activities related to the acquisition, maintenance, and use of spatial data in community planning; the review of regulations and legal descriptions for municipal annexations and amalgamations; and the management and maintenance of records and files related to approved planning by-laws, planning district formation, and general operational statistics.
