The Manitoba Geological Survey (MGS) is seeking to hire a new research and mapping geologist (GE3) to join the Precambrian Geoscience Section. The position is for a field geologist by training, with expertise in designing, planning, conducting and reporting on collaborative research and mapping applied to Precambrian geologic systems and processes, their mineral resources and evolution through time. Emphasis will be on field and laboratory studies dealing predominantly with ancient volcanic and sedimentary sequences, which constitute a large portion of Manitoba’s bedrock geology and host significant mineral resources. The position requires ability to compile, integrate and analyze complex geoscientific datasets (e.g. geochemical, geophysical, drill hole) to derive comprehensive regional-scale syntheses. Results of these studies are to be reported in Departmental publications, scientific journals, oral presentations and posters. Working closely with industry, other government agencies, universities and communities, this position promotes and fosters an understanding of the characteristics and geological settings of historical and newly-discovered mineral developments.
