Conditions of Employment:

  • Must have and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Experience in a commercial cooking environment 
  • Experience preparing and serving well-balanced meals for large groups of people
  • Experience preparing bulk quantities of food
  • Experience with sanitation and cleaning requirements in the food service industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service and build effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization and public
  • Ability to work effectively on own and in team environment
  • Excellent verbal communication

Desired:
  • Food Handler Certificate
Duties:
Under general supervision of the Supervisor, Food Services; the Food Services Worker performs a variety of tasks involved in providing the meal program within housing facilities managed by Manitoba Housing. Some of the duties include preparing and serving meals, cleaning eating area, utensils and equipment. Driving and delivery of meals and catering items, ordering and re-stocking supplies, and maintaining basic records related to the operation of the meal programs. Although independence of action is exercised in the performance of the duties assigned, a high level of cooperation is required in working with the building’s Tenant Association, meal program committee and program volunteers.
