The Inclusion Support Branch within the Student Achievement & Inclusion Division of the Department of Education is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of American Sign Languague (ASL) Consultant.

The ASL Consultant works collaboratively with members of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Consultant Team (DHHCT) to develop and implement American Sign Language (ASL) programming directly to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH), including instruction in the foundations of ASL such as grammatical structure, vocabulary, classifiers, non-manual markers, etc. and provides ASL language models. The ASL Consultant also works with members of the DHHCT to provide information about Deaf culture, history and identity, self-advocacy, and access to community organizations that provide services and resources. The ASL Consultant acts as a direct support to K-12 students, school staff and school community, and assists with the American Sign Language challenge for credit for high school students and the Educational Interpreter Performance assessment.
