Conservation and Climate is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Provincial Park Lot Development Planner/Inspector located in the North Whiteshell District, Seven Sisters, MB.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver License.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including traveling over rough terrain on foot.
  • Must be willing and able to travel with occasional overnight accommodations. 
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:

Essential:
 

  • Graduation from an approved Renewable Resource Management Program or a Diploma/Degree in Parks Management, Natual Sciences, Municipal or Civil Engineering, Technical or Recreation Studies and experience in a multi-disciplined park or public works environment or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience working with development plans, square footage calculations, interpreting guidelines and directives related to management and development.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  •  Effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software (Work, Outlook, Excel) or equivalent software applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.     

Desired:
 
  • Experience conducting inspections.
  • Knowledge of building construction and applied codes.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Provincial Parks and cottaging program.

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Park District Manager or Designate:
The Provincial Park  Development Planner / Inspector is the districts first point of contact in providing support and services to owners and occupiers of Crowns lands within a provincial park, who are inquiring about the potential future development plans of their lot. This position will assist lot holders with lot interpretation and the application process, ensures compliance with development plans and guidelines found within the Cottager’s Handbook for Manitoba Provincial Parks. Additional duties include: compiles field inspections reports for lease renewals, investigates complaints related to lot development, conducts inspections and monitors development and assists with inspections relating commercial and special consideration organization lots in provincial parks. Interprets legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines and directives relating to the development and management of vacation homes. Will provide assistance with Provincial Park Lot Development duties in the Nopiming and Atikaki Provincial Parks.
