Reporting to the Translation Coordinator, the Translation Support Clerk provides clerical and translation support to the branch. The clerk is responsible for receiving and processing all translation requests (data entry, file management and verification), preparing documents for translation, and performing all necessary formatting tasks. This position relies on the extensive use of sophisticated and specialized workflow and translation memory software to complete their work. The Translation Support Clerk also performs general reception duties.

 

Translation Services is a central agency mandated to provide translation, interpretation and terminology management services - in English and in French - to all government departments, the Legislative assembly, the courts, Crown organizations, and Special Operating Agencies in Manitoba.    

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be fluently bilingual (verbal and written) in English and French.

Qualifications:

Essential:
 

  • Experience working in a general office environment performing clerical and administrative duties. A combination of education and related work experience may be considered
  • Experience maintaining electronic and paper filing systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong verbal communication skills in French
  • Strong written communication skills in English
  • Intermediate written communication skills in French with strong reading ability to read French
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines with tight timeframes
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Duties:
Reporting to the Translation Coordinator, the Translation Support Clerk provides clerical and translation support to the branch. The clerk is responsible for receiving and processing all translation requests (data entry, file management and verification), preparing documents for translation, and performing all necessary post-translation formatting tasks. The clerk is also responsible for closing out completed translations, and maintaining physical and electronic files.  This position relies on the extensive use of sophisticated and specialized workflow and translation memory software to complete their work. The Translation Support Clerk also performs general reception duties.
