Conditions of Employment:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

• Satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks
• Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel throughout Winnipeg and surrounding area
• Must be able to obtain First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis training within 3 months of start date
• This position requires that you are physically able to walk or run following a child and to sit in vehicles for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends

Qualifications:
Essential:

• Post secondary degree in Social Sciences (preferrably BSW).  Other acceptable combinations of education and related experience may be considered
• Experience working with sexually exploited or high risk youth
• Case management experience (including intakes, assessment, service coordination, evaluation and monitoring) in a social service setting
• Experience working with youth from a strength based practice
• Knowledge of health, justice and social issues including the the issues faced by Indigenous children/youth
• Excellent interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with youth
• Ability to develop excellent working relationships to work within a multi-disciplinary team of community-based agencies, law enforcement and child welfare agencies
• Effective oral communiation skills to advocate for children and youth
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills required for maintaining reports and client files
• Excellent assessment and observational skills
• Ability to problem solve effectively

Desired:

• Knowledge of high risk communities/areas or places that children/youth are being exploited and/or placed at risk
• Experience working with The Child and Family Services Act and The Criminal Code of Canada in relation to prostitution, sexual assault and child abuse offenses

Duties:
The incumbent is responsible to complete risk assessments and assist with/co-ordinate protection investigations (auxillary status) and assist in case planning (auxiliary status) in complex, sensitive situations where children may have been sexually exploited or placed at risk of sexual exploitation.  This includes collaborating with or coordinating a multi-disciplinary team, acting as the principle investigator if needed, providing expert case consultation and review and assisting in the development of child exploitation services in Manitoba through participation in the development of related legislation, regulations and standards.

The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the location of sexually exploited children and youth and returning them to safety or apprehending them if necessary.  The StreetReach worker is responsible for assisting police services and Child and Family Services agencies in identifying and investigating suspected child sex offenders.
