The Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) under Municipal Relations is a diverse organization that plays a strong role in public safety and fire protection by safeguarding both persons and property from fire and life safety hazards through education, investigation, emergency response, code application and enforcement. The OFC also provides fire service training, facilitates liaison with fire departments and local officials, and ensures that Manitoba’s response pre-planning and response capability is coordinated with municipal, provincial and national partners while ensuring the provision of incident command at larger emergencies.
The OFC is seeking qualified candidates to fill three (3) Fire Investigator positions responsible for conducting fire investigations, undertaking public education and supporting emergency response operations across Manitoba.
While the OFC's main offices are located in Winnipeg and Brandon, the majority of the work is performed outside these areas and in various rural locations across Manitoba. Successful candidates may be allowed to work from a home base (telecommuting) in lieu of a regional office, subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement, although intermittent travel to centralized base operations will be required.
