The primary role of the Consultation and Reconciliation Branch is leading the provincial implementation of settlement agreements and consultations with Indigenous communities.  The Branch works closely with other provincial departments to meet provincial obligations and advance reconciliation through respectful relationships.  

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to travel to rural and northern communities within the province

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Project management experience including planning and coordinating projects and/or initiatives
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating meetings with Indigenous communities
  • Experience working with Indigenous, northern and remote communities on various issues
  • Experience managing contentious situations involving multiple stakeholders who have competing interests 
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to influence and guide the work of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and research skills including the ability to synthesize and summarize information in a logical manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people
  • Strong written communication skills 
  • Strong verbal communication skills including experience conducting formal and informal presentations to a variety of audiences

Desired:
  • Experience working on land based or natural resource related matters
  • Experience developing and analysing budgets    

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager and/ or designate of the Consultation and Reconciliation Branch, the Coordinator:

  • Serves as provincial lead on work related to the negotiation and implementation of provincial settlement agreements, treaty land entitlement (TLE) and other natural resource-related issues.
  •  Serves as the main educator, trainer and government policy analyst for departments that are undertaking Crown-Indigenous Consultation and applicable initiatives related to consultation education and policy development.
