Reporting to the Executive Director this position is responsible for researching, developing and recommending policy and regulation; reviewing, editing, and preparing communications such as position papers, submissions, briefing materials, special reports and departmental documents for use in governmental decision-making; initiating and managing large and complex emergency management and public policy projects; representing the Province on Federal/Provincial/Territorial working groups; and leading the Critical Service Providers Issues Management Unit in the Manitoba Emergency Coordination Centre

Duties:
Primary role is to research, coordinate and prepare information and briefing materials used for both information and decision-making for senior officials, Deputy Ministers and Ministers. Contribute to emergency coordination and management, including operating in an emergency coordination function as part of the Manitoba EMO Command Staff during large-scale, provincial emergencies, primarily as a key participant in the Manitoba Emergency Coordination Centre (MECC). Initiate and lead the management on research and planning projects. Initiate and develop legislation, policy and regulation. Lead Critical Service Providers Issues Management Unit in the Manitoba Emergency Coordination Centre. Act as the EMO Duty Officer when required.
