The Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) is a Special Operating Agency (SOA) of the Manitoba government that performs a critical role in ensuring and maintaining Manitoba’s public safety. The overall mission is to safeguard both persons and property from fire and life safety hazards through education, investigation, emergency response and code application.
The Agency is seeking experienced Municipal Support Officer(s) primarily responsible for planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the Agency’s community risk reduction, public safety, fire protection and fire prevention programs being delivered to municipalities, communities, schools, councils, advocacy and interest groups and the general public.

The Municipal Support Officer ensures the most responsive approach, planning and action related to fire protection are available. The position liaises with stakeholders and other government agencies in the management, administration, organization and deployment of fire protection. The Officer promotes public awareness; community risk reduction; encourages strategic fire protection planning; employs fire & life safety prevention; and conducts training, as protection against fire and other risks. The Officer represents the Office of the Fire Commissioner in the delivery of consultative services to municipalities, emergency services and the public. The incumbent will participate in network programming; research; fire reporting & statistical evaluation; fire inspections; and emergency response.
