Manitoba Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated individuals interested in filling the role of Camp Cook at Wekusko Falls and Paint Lake Helitac Bases. Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings and overtime as required.
- Physically capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of the position such as; lifting up to 40lbs, standing for long periods, and performing janitorial duties.
- Must possess Food Handling Certificate or be willing and able to obtain it within 45 days of employment.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience in meal preparation for large groups of 25+ people in a camp or catering capacity.
- Knowledge in safe work practices associated with the preparation of food.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Formal training in food preparation.
- Experience in housekeeping and janitorial work.
- Experience with food stocking and inventory control.
Duties:
Under the direction of the head cook, the incumbent assists at the Wekusko Falls or Paint Lake Initial Attack base kitchens in prepping meals for up to 100 people. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparation; cooking and serving meals; cleaning of the kitchen area and the equipment used in preparation of meals; taking food stock inventory and possibly ordering groceries. The incumbent may assist with janitorial duties and assist staff with other projects as well as other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
